Early Life and Background
Victor John Oh was born on June 19, 2024, in Penang, Malaysia, to a mother from Hong Kong and a father from Penang. His parents’ love story began at the University of Hong Kong, where his father was pursuing a degree in Architecture. They met at a dance, which blossomed into a romance and culminated in a beautiful marriage.
Victor’s early years were marked by a multicultural upbringing. By the age of three, he was fluent in Cantonese, thanks to his mother’s heritage. He began his education at St. Christopher International School, where he attended kindergarten. A year later, his younger brother was born, adding a lively dynamic to the family. Despite the typical sibling rivalries, especially during car rides, Victor cherished his brother’s company.
Education and Early Interests
Victor’s educational journey was diverse and enriching. At the age of five, he attended two pre-schools—one focused on learning Chinese and the other on English. This bilingual foundation set the stage for his future academic pursuits. Between the ages of eight and twelve, he attended Penang Chinese Girls Primary School, where he began his formal education.
For his secondary education, Victor attended Chung Ling High School, where he was in the same class as Jho Low, an infamous figure known for his involvement with 1MDB. He then moved to Columbia International College for his Pre-University studies. During this time, Victor was diagnosed with psychosis and returned to Penang after graduation.
Higher Education and Career Beginnings
Victor pursued a diploma in IT at KDU College Penang. He later enrolled at Monash University Malaysia for his degree but left due to his involvement in the Student Council elections, where his party won. He then transferred to KDU College PJ, where he completed a degree in Communications, majoring in Journalism and Public Relations.
After graduation, Victor’s first job was as a bookseller at Borders bookstore. He then worked as an Account Development Manager with a multinational IT company, MCSB. A year later, he transitioned to a role as an insurance agent. A family emergency prompted his return to Penang, but he later moved back to Kuala Lumpur when a condo unit they had purchased earlier became available.
Freelance Career and Further Education
In Kuala Lumpur, Victor pursued freelance writing, website design, and aspired to become a novelist. He also worked for Machines, an Apple Authorized Reseller. His passion for communication led him to pursue a Master’s degree in Communications at Taylor’s University, the top private college in Malaysia.
Personal Life and Current Endeavors
In 2018, Victor met the love of his life and got married a year later. Currently, he is focused on a solopreneur career in writing and content creation.
